Dr. Peter Lewin

Dr. Peter Lewin is a native of South Africa. At the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg he studied under the Austrian economist Ludwig M. Lachmann. This triggered Dr. Lewin’s lifelong interest in the ideas of the Austrian School.

Dr. Lewin is well known for his contributions to the theory of the firm and the market process, and Austrian capital theory. His articles have appeared in Review of Austrian EconomicsAmerican Journal of Economics and SociologyQuarterly Journal of Austrian Economics, and History of Political Economy. His most recent book, Capital in Disequilibrium: The Role of Capital in a Changing World(Routledge, 1999), is considered an important development of the earlier ideas of Menger and Hayek.

A graduate of the University of Chicago with a Ph.D. in Economics, Dr. Peter Lewin is professor of economics at the University of Texas in Dallas.
