[...] An economist picks on a New York Times article for being biased and completely incorrect (no surprise to any of us), and does a good job of attacking the concept of the efficacy of stimulus while he’s at it. http://fee.org/articles/news-fit-tint/ [...]

But it\\\'s Obama that\\\'s doing it, it must be good...

Journalism in America seems to be opinion pieces, either to reinforce what the readers already know or to infuriate them about what \\\'the other side\\\' are up to.

PS. "Invalid sectiry code" is an easy typo to spot and fix...

Wonderful characterization... What I find most sickening is that the $50B that has been dumped on Louisiana hasn't really stimulated anything more than just the construction industry. No other businesses are really hiring. How is that "stimulus"?

Joe,

Great questions. I think there are many culprits here but a primary one is the lack of critical thinking skills and disciplined, independent reasoning. The elements of such things are rarely stressed in elementary and secondary education these days. Students deficient in these areas then enter journalism schools at the higher education level where a statist mentality dominates the faculty (and where, not coincidentally, the state is the primary source of revenue, proving the old rule that he who pays the piper calls the tune). The result is journalists who can't think or won't think and don't know how to question the statist orthodoxy they've been steeped in. They typically have read little or nothing of opposing, non-statist views so they often are oblivious to how silly and one-sided their perspectives are.

What a superb characterization of american journalism. Is it all learned in school? Or does everyone just "go native" when they're hired? The sad fact is that it applies so well to the ENTIRE Fourth Estate.

Brilliant.
That's how I can describe this article.
I laughed out loud and then almost shouted in anger.
It is completely indicative of American journalism today.
