A Debate on Healthcare Reform

On March 23, 2010, Sheldon Richman, editor of The Freeman, participated in a debate on Healthcare Reform at Western New England College. His interlocutor was Gerald Friedman of UMass-Amherst.

  1. Dr Friedman merely provided a litany of horror stories but refrained from providing any economic analysis of the problem. His faith in government regulation reflecting “our values” is positively childish. Is he aware of public choice? All of the problems he mentioned are directly related to government meddling. His political values care little or nothing for individual liberty. His belief that health is a public good evinces his totalitarian mindset. Kudos to Sheldon Richman in pointing that out.

  2. Man. It’s as if the intellectual discussion came to an abrupt end as soon as Sheldon left the stand.
