		<description>If the existing system is of no value, and the airlines could do a better job, would they not implement their own security system unless prohibited from doing so? As far as I know they are not so constrained.</description>

But the aim of State-run American airline security is political theater, not airline security. It&#039;s designed to keep the public fearful, and also to demonstrate the power of the State.</description>
