ANYTHING PEACEFUL

A Sit-Down with Nick Gillespie of Reason TV

FEBRUARY 25, 2013 by THE FREEMAN

Freeman editor Max Borders got to sit down with Reason's Nick Gillespie in this interview for Reason TV.

Nick and Max talk crony capitalism, wealth inequality, and the future of The Freeman.

"We have a huge problem in this country with the difference between makers and takers," says Borders, "between crony capitalists and actual value creators. . . . You've got people who have figured out how to game the system. They go down to the brothels of K Street and figure out how to change the rules to benefit them[selves], and we get massive transfers of wealth from middle class and poor people to rich people."

The United States' corporate tax burden is the highest in the world, but innovators will always find a way to duck away from Uncle Sam's reach. Doug Bandow explains how those with the means are renouncing their citizenship in increasing numbers, while J. In a special tech section, Joseph Diedrich, Thomas Bogle, and Matthew McCaffrey look at various ways these innovators add value to our lives--even in ways they probably never expected.
